The National Football League (NFL) has established itself as the world's largest sports league in terms of revenue generation. Dominating the US sports landscape, the league reported revenues of US$23 billion in 2024.
Faced with the saturation of the domestic market, the NFL has been intensifying its international expansion strategy. This initiative consists of holding official regular-season games outside of the United States. In Brazil, two games have already been held in São Paulo, the most recent of which took place in early September 2025.
International expansion has boosted the valuation of the league and its teams. In 2025, the average team valuation reached US$7.1 billion, up 25% from the previous year. Furthermore, with the publication of new NFL investment rules for private equity funds in late 2024, expectations are rising for greater professionalization of management and increased valuation for the league as a whole.
In today's bulletin, we present an overview of the NFL, highlighting the impacts observed on its fan base and team valuations as a result of international expansion strategies and investment flows.
