The Study and Project Financing Agency (FINEP) is a company linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communication (MCTIC), founded in 1967. The agency's objective is to operate throughout the innovation chain, focusing on strategic, structuring and impactful actions for the sustainable development of Brazil.
In this context, FINEP provides several lines of credit to companies and research institutions in Brazil. From January to September 2023, the volume of credit made available was R$$ 6.5 billion (compared to R$$ 2.6 billion in the same period in 2022). The volume of financed projects has grown significantly over the past few years due to the attractiveness of competitive rates and longer terms compared to more traditional fundraising operations with financial institutions.
Typically, the credit volume approved by the committee for each subscribed project is disbursed in phases, based on proof of funds. Due to the increase in funded projects, Ártica has prepared a pocket guide with key questions about FINEP credit as an alternative source for companies investing in R&D or with innovation investment projects.
