The Free Contracting Environment (ACL), popularly known as the free energy market, allows consumers the freedom to negotiate their own electricity purchasing conditions, establishing direct contacts with generators and traders. This allows the end customer to choose who to buy energy from, eliminating the obligation to purchase from the local distributor (CPFL, Enel, Light, etc.). This autonomy brings with it enormous potential for achieving significant financial savings.
Showing its importance to the country, this environment represented 36% of the total energy consumed and generated more than R$$ 40 billion in savings for consumers in 2022.
In today's newsletter, we'll discuss the regulatory changes that have driven this market, as well as present recent transactions that seek to take advantage of the sector's advances.
