The global sports betting market presents promising prospects. It is forecast to reach a value of US$140 billion by 2028.
Until recently, only lotteries and horse racing betting were permitted in Brazil. With the implementation of the legal framework in 2018, sports betting was legalized in the country. However, the sector is still not properly regulated, despite being expected to generate approximately R$12 billion in revenue in 2023 and involving over 50 companies.
It is essential to bring this issue up for discussion, as the country has unique characteristics for the development of the sector, with a population that has broad access to the internet and a great interest in sports in general.
Given these characteristics, the sector is booming, which has led several of these companies to enter into M&A processes, both globally and nationally, aiming to expand their portfolios and market presence.
