Data Center Industry Overview


The data center market is a crucial segment in the technology industry, dedicated to providing and managing the physical infrastructure needed to host IT systems. In 2023, more than US$ 236 BI were invested in the sector, representing a growth of 69% compared to 2013 investments.

The sector is divided into three main segments, based on the service model provided by companies: servers, storage and network infrastructure. Servers are essential for hosting websites, managing databases, and supporting cloud computing. Storage involves data archiving and backup systems, as well as information retrieval mechanisms. Network infrastructure covers resources and services related to hardware, ensuring connectivity, data transmission and security.

As of March 2024, the main market is in the US, with approximately 5,381 data centers. Comparatively, Brazil ranked 14th in terms of number of data centers, with a total of 163 units. Although still not very significant, the national market projects a CAGR of 7.1% between 2023 and 2028, surpassing the global average of 6.6% in the same period.
