In recent weeks, the case of Americanas (AMER3) moved the market with the revelation of accounting inconsistencies that could have an impact of R$ 20 BI on its financial statements. Some time later, the company revealed a debt of around R$ 40 billion – which was not mapped by the market and its creditors. Although the Americanas case is still in its initial chapters, it has reignited concern about inconsistencies in the financial information disclosed by companies. This was not the first (and possibly will not be the last) scandal observed in the financial market.
