The Financier of Studies and Projects (FINEP) is a company linked to the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communication (MCTIC), founded in 1967. The agency's objective is to act across the entire innovation chain, focusing on strategic actions, structuring and impact for the sustainable development of Brazil.
In this context, FINEP provides several lines of credit for companies and research institutions in the country. From January to September 2023, the volume of credit available was R$ 6.5 BI (compared to R$2.6 BI in the same period in 2022). The volume of financed projects has grown significantly over the last few years due to the great attraction of competitive rates and extended terms compared to more traditional fundraising operations with financial institutions.
Generally, the volume approved in credit by the committee for each subscribed project is disbursed in phases, according to proof of resources. Due to the increase in financed projects, Ártica prepared a pocket guide with the main questions about credit via FINEP as an alternative source for companies that invest in R&D or that have investment projects in innovation.
